The body is cast aluminum which reduces the weight by approximately 20% and the longer handles increase power and leverage exponentially. There are many features built in that reduce fatigue while improving control and accuracy. Use the thickness control and lock into position so that the handles are consistently at the exact angle for most efficient cutting of thin or thick tesserae. There is a built in Allen key for adjusting the wheels which are clearly numbered so that you can always find a fresh cutting edge. We highly recommend this tool for mosaic artists. The addition of the O rings holds your tile in place after it is cut so no sharp pieces are flying around. Although this tool is sprecifically designed for glass based products it can cuting thinner stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles with ease however these will dull the wheels more quickly.
