Craquelé: D106 Yellow: 50g

A wonderful round tile that is hand molded and glazed with multiple layers of crackle glass and then acid washed for a permanent pearlised gloss. The gold and silver are electroplated with an antique acid wash finish. Spectacular in combination with matte glass or stone tiles as well as standard ceramic tesserae. As this product is hand made in metal mols the size may vary slightly due to shrinkage, most are between 16-18mm in diameter. This shrinkage also leads to a slight swelling giving a domed or rounded aspect with the centre of each tile slightly thicker than the edges, the thickness is +/-6mm. The edges are straight and well defined. The glaze is hand painted in a minimum of 3 layers giving a beautiful luster with the colour lighter on the egdges and deeper in the center. During rapid cooling the craquelé occurs for a highly desirable artistic effect. Finally to create a permanent mother of pearl effect the tiles are soaked in a strong acid to etch the surface. These are high fired porcelain and are weather and UV resistant. 50g=+/-15 pieces, 250g =+/-75 pieces.
